The MS in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology Master's program at Albizu University is offered in online and in-person at our San Juan and Mayaguez campuses. It prepares students to be culturally competent I/O practitioners who develop and apply scientific knowledge to solve problems that occur in work environments. Students graduate with practical training in the areas of selection and placement, training and develoment, performance measurement, organizational develoment, and quality of work life. Masters of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology is a two-year full-time program, which includes 57 credits in academic courses, six (6) practice modules, one (1) writing skills seminar, and one (1) APA-style writing seminar.
Program Goals
This Master of Science program offers students practical experience in real-world scenarios. It focuses on staff psychology, group interaction, and decision making, organizational behavior, psychological evaluation techniques within the organization, diagnoses, change, organizational development, training, psychosocial aspects of health in organizations, and positive occupational health psychology, among other areas.

The application for the Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology consists of the following:
A completed and signed application form submitted prior to the established deadline and accompanied by the $50 application fee. The application process begins by creating an online account.
Official transcripts from all previous undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) institutions attended, showing that the following conditions have been met:
A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher is required. Completed applications may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis if the academic credentials do not meet the minimum requirement, but the applicant’s cumulative undergraduate GPA is at least 2.5. In that situation, enrollment may be recommended at the discretion of the Admissions Committee, but the student must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the first session to retain enrolled student status.
Transcripts should include any degree received. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States is required.
Applicants enrolled in institutions of higher education outside the United States whose standards of training are
substantially equivalent to the standards of training of those institutions in the United States will also be considered.
Three (3) letters of recommendation. These should preferably be from past professors, although one may be from a supervisor. All letters should be written in accordance with the AU format.
A current curriculum vitae that summarizes the applicant’s credentials.
A statement of purpose, which should be double-spaced, typed, and one-page long. It must articulate the applicant’s interest in the field, short and long-term career goals, and how AU is expected to contribute to said goals.
Proof of appropriate immigration status for all international students. International students should also submit an official evaluation of academic credentials by an authorized agency. The credentials must include the applicant’s GPA. For detailed information on this requirement, please refer to the Credential Evaluation Services section found in the International Students page of the Albizu University website. All admission credentials for international students must be received by Albizu University at least 90 days prior to the beginning of the session of expected enrollment.
Applicants to the Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology must have passed an upper division statistics course with a grade of “B†or above within the last five years of the application deadline. If applicants do not meet this prerequisite but meet all other admission requirements and are accepted into the program, they will be permitted to take the required statistics course during their first enrollment session.
Once the Admissions Office receives all the required documentation and the interview process is completed, academic program advisors will contact successful candidates to provide program direction and guidance.
