Continuing Education
The Professional Studies and Continuing Education Program of Albizu University (AU) stands out for having several on-campus and online courses. The objective of these courses is to train and improve the skills of students, graduates, and professionals interested in matters related to health and mental well-being.
The program is approved by the Puerto Rico Department of Health (provider No. 00080) to offer continuing education to healthcare professionals. It is also certified as a continuing education provider by the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education to psychologists in the United States.
The program seeks to update, expand, and innovate knowledge. It offers high-quality continuing education activities, using the APA quality standards and the corresponding examining boards of the Puerto Rico Department of Health as guidance.
Professional Certifications
Certifications are aimed at training professionals and soon-to-be graduates interested in obtaining the necessary knowledge to promote good mental health and emotional well-being. The program adapts itself to the needs of its participants, thus it offers flexible schedules and payment plans.
The tuition fee is $375.00 and is deducted from the total certification cost. The remaining balance is divided into installments according to the certification’s duration. The certification will be issued once it is completed and fully paid for. At the end of each module, a certification of continuing education contact hours is issued and, if applicable, this will allow for the renewal of licenses of healthcare professionals. An additional $25.00 is charged for late registration, which would be three (3) days before the certification date.
As part of the professional certification services, and in collaboration with diverse organizations, we offer a variety of subject matters that may be of interest to professionals. These organizations, in collaboration with our department, develop and coordinate academic offering components so as to cover the diverse needs and academic interests of professionals.

It offers continuing education activities aimed at training and improving the professional skills and academic competencies of students, employees, alumni, and leading professionals in the health field. To carry out these activities, it uses the quality guidelines established by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the corresponding examining boards of the Puerto Rico Department of Health.
The program is licensed by the Puerto Rico Department of Health (provider no. 00080) to offer continuing education courses for credits leading to the renewal of health professionals' licenses. In addition, it is certified as a continuing education provider by APA to offer continuing education to psychologists in the United States.
Courses are offered at the San Juan Campus and the Mayagüez University Center. Discounts are offered to AU graduates, students, and employees.
On-Campus Courses
The calendar of course certifications varies each semester (August to December/ January to May) and includes an array of subjects relating to health and mental well-being. These on-campus courses range from 3 to 8 hours and are approved by the Puerto Rico Department of Health as accredited courses to renew professional licenses connected to said department.
Online Courses
This format allows courses to be offered online through the Blackboard platform. The registration and payment process are carried out in a similar way to the on-campus courses. Once enrolled in the course, participants will receive a username and password and, as long as they have an internet connection, they will be able to access their course at any time and place. This prevents cancellations and allows for the creation of flexible schedules. These courses are approved by the Puerto Rico Department of Health as accredited courses to renew professional licenses connected to said department.
The program reserves the right to cancel, change, or postpone any of the courses announced in the calendar. Interested parties must contact the program offices to confirm if the course in which they are interested will be offered.
