As a full-time Faculty member, Dr. Tourgeman co-coordinates the Albizu University neuropsychology track and also serves as adjunct professor for the school’s Master’s in Speech Pathology Program. Additional classes taught by Dr. Tourgeman include: Assessment of Intelligence, Advanced Neuropsychology, Fundamentals of Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation and Treatment. He also serves as Faculty Advisor for the Neuropsychology Club.

Biografía

A Staff psychologist at the Design Neuroscience Center, Dr. Tourgeman utilizes a theoretical integrationist approach in his clinical work, which allows him to incorporate multiple treatment modalities in a manner that is applicable to an individual patient. This orientation stems from experience and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Intervention, Reality Therapy and Systems Approach. He also integrates a medical/biological model when conceptualizing patients and incorporates the American Congress of Rehabilitational Medicine (ACRM) guidelines for Neurorehabilitation.

Investigación / Intereses de investigación

 Dr. Tourgeman has presented in multiple conferences, including the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society, and the American Psychological Association. His research interests center around the study of neuropsychological aspects of acquired brain injuries, including concussions. He is also interested in the interface between technology and health such as in the utilization of mobile devise, wearables, and portable EEG.

Currently, Dr. Tourgeman is collaborating with MIT IMES as Primary Investigator for a multicenter study exploring the relationship with passive technological data and objective measures of emotional status. He is also Primary Investigator for a study exploring the Premorbid and Co-morbid factors that influence neuropsychological status in patients diagnosed with acquired brain injuries. He is also co-investigator for a multi-center study that features group cognitive rehabilitation with individuals diagnosed with MCI or dementia. A certified clinical rater and sub-investigator for a multicenter pharmaceutical study.

Dr. Tourgeman has also been featured as guest speaker at the South Florida Research Symposium, Estee Lauder Mental Health Week, and the Criminal Justice Symposium at Florida National University.

Académicos, Educación, Certificaciones

A 2006 graduate of Florida International University, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Philosophy and Statistics. He earned his Master of Science in Psychopharmacology in 2014 while completing his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in 2015. Subsequently, he completed his clinical internship at University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital-Adult Neuropsychology Rotation and proceeded to attain a fellowship at the Design Neuroscience Center in South Florida, an outpatient, neuro-rehabilitation center featuring neurology, physical therapy, speech pathology, occupational therapy and neuropsychology.
